How'd You Get Here?

Well, if you didn't know...I am a HUGE fan of BET's TV series "The Game" and this past Tuesday, the 25th, a new episode aired, "The Wing King". Throughout the episode, we learn that Melanie is the new president of the Sun Beams. She puts together an event to guide disadvantaged and misleaded young women. Seeing that she is a doctor, although she doesn't work, Melanie stresses the fact that she should be the director of the project. Putting Jazz, another wife of the San Diego Sabers, down for trying to participate in the event but not having the appropriate profession. Jazz is a professional dancer that has been featured in hip-hop videos.

The day of the event arrives and the young girls blatantly show their boredom in Melanie's speech. One girl recognizes Jazz from her latest video and with that, Jazz takes the spotlight. While signing autographs, Melanie calls Jazz over and says...

Melanie: What the hell do you think you’re doing?

Jazz: I believe it’s called stuntin’

Melanie: No what it’s called is misleading these girls down the wrong path.

Jazz: Excuse me?

Melanie: Yeah, today was suppose to be about uplifting these girls and setting an example for them but instead you have been running around here thinking it’s okay to sleep with everyone and shake their ass in music videos.

Jazz: Sleep around, wait, is this about Derwin? Is he still talking about me? That is so cute.

Melanie: What?! No, this has nothing to do with Derwin. It’s about you convincing these girls there’s some future in them objectifying themselves.

Jazz: Well, that’s weird because it seems that my future is almost identical to yours. You married a football player, I married a football player. You’re a Sunbeam, I’m a Sunbeam. At the end of the day, I’m sitting at the same table as you. Actually no, not true. I’m sitting at the autograph table unlike you.

Melanie: Excuse me?

Jazz: And you call yourself a role model? You’re nothing but a fake ass, insecure, wannabe doctor, who enjoys bringing down other women to build yourself up. And I tell you what…my background may be a little skanky but I’m a skank that keeps it 100. Now if you excuse me, little skitzo is waiting. *walks away*

Melanie: Can you believe her?

Tasha: Mmm Hmm. I love it that broad got heart.

Melanie: Tasha, how could you say that?

Tasha: Oh, come on. Come on Melanie, you know you had that coming…the way you’ve been treating her. You lucky she didn’t didn’t whoop yo ass a long time ago because if she had asked me, I probably would’ve helped her too.

Melanie: What? How could you defend her, she practically slept her way into the Sunbeams.

Tasha: Okay, don’t make me remind you of your freaky little tendencies Mrs. Trey Wiggs/Hop In the Bed With Malik/Jerome. You ain’t nobody saint, okay. At the end of the day we all got here the same way….either giving up the cooch or pushing somebody up out the cooch. So you remember that the next time you go judging somebody.

Tasha Mack is certainly a realist! My all-time favorite line is italicized above. Certain women just can't make it alone and get caught up in love too often. Melanie is certified to be a doctor and yet, is tied up in the life of a football wife! Become yourselves young women; it is now 2011 and depending on a man was soooo 1999!

I'm Back and I'm BAD!

Yes people, I have returned to school and it feels damn good! (:

Now I've made a huge change this semester, which is the school that I attend. I am currently enrolled in Solano Community College out of Fairfield, CA, whereas before I was attending Napa Community College.

It's honestly too soon to tell how I feel about Solano since today was my first day but I really did love today! (: Maybe it's just my love for school, who knows? I have to say this though, there are a lot of differences between the two colleges even though they're only a few cities apart, LOL(main difference:demographics).

I know there are many people who think switching colleges, especially community colleges, is stupid but I've ran into several personal as well as economic issues while attending Napa Community College and change was definitely in order. Getting to Solano is much easier for me than Napa, Solano's payment plan fits my economic situation much better, and I feel more comfortable at Solano. I'm not sure what it is, but I just do.

During my time at Napa, I felt lonely, out of place, and out numbered whereas at Napa, I feel the complete opposite. Although I maintained good grades and did really well at Napa, I wasn't happy and something had to give, realizing that good grades didn't necessarily equal success if I wasn't happy. Taking a break this past semester was probably one of the best things I could have done for myself. A lot of people didn't understand and to be quite honest, neither did I. But I have learned that I had to find my happiness, my comfort zone and myself before I could make another move. Especially a decision regarding an important aspect of my life, my education.

Now comfortable with my lifestyle, I'm happy to say that I'm back and ready to take on this semester. I wish all students a safe, successful and of course, happy semester. Just know that only YOU can do for yourself what is best and if you aren't happy then #GetThere ! No matter the cost, distance or time, just #GetThere ! (:

Love to all of you! xo.

Nigga vs. Nigger.

PLEASE READ: This piece was not written to upset, harm or ridicule anyone. This is my thoughts as to how the word nigga is used, treated, as well as mistreated. These are my thoughts! I am not a racist and have no intention of becoming one. I ask that all readers be open minded and consider my thoughts. Thank you!

I think the most ignorant statement I've heard in my nineteen years of life was, "Just because your girlfriend is Black doesn't mean you can say nigga"!

Yes people. Today, I'm taking it there!

Growing up, I attended predominately African-American schools and the use of the word "nigga" was a common subject. Anyone, except for the White kids, were allowed to use the word. Unless of course one resembled an African-American in any way possible. There was no rule that allowed such behavior, and to this day, that rule is still nonexistent. The students have created this type of environment and yes, I find this unfair...

People being limited to the use of the word nigga, why are you not using it? Are you scared? If so, I must ask once more, WHY? There is no law forbidding anyone to use the word. So why should we?

Because it's disrespectful to the ancestors of African-Americans? Well, that is true... in a way! Nigga, is the slang version of the actual word that disrespects our ancestors. Nigger is the word to be mad at, people! I can see how some still find this word offensive because it is a form of the offending word, but we must understand that people give words power.

If I were to open a dictionary and look up the word nigger, I would find this definition...

A person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible, inferior,
ignorant, etc.

& that is all. But, because a White man stood behind the word and used it against a Black man in a degrading manner, the word turned into an insult. Since then, a lot has changed for the colored community. Within those changes, the language slang was born.

Slang, which is a very informal use of the English language, has introduced the word nigga. By dropping the "er" and replacing it with an "a", the word has been taken away from it's harsh memories and is now used as a sign of endearment. Yes, some still use the word as a reference to African-American people but definitely, not in a derogatory manner!

My peers use the word to refer to friends, males, or a person in general, no matter the race! But of course, the case is who is using the word...

Is she Black? Is he White? Are they yellow, orange, red?
What difference does it make?

To the people who restrict others aside from African-Americans using the word, why? Because it sounds good? In all honesty, do you truly connect with the depth of the word?

I truly and firmly believe that no one born after the 70's can grasp the hurt behind the word nigger!

What irritates me the most about those who police the use of the slang word nigga? The fact that those policing the word only stop the ones who aren't African-American and it's as simple as that. If one truly and positively hates the word, then one would hate it in any situation. Yes, even if Black people use it! The word should be hated as a whole and not periodically.

Reconnect people! Recognize and reconnect!

But here is some food for thought, if you are telling people who aren't African-American to use the word for racial purposes, aren't you being racist?

The Game is Back! Recap & Review.

Last night, history was created! Originally brought to us from the CW, The Game, starring Pooch Hall, Tia Mowry, and Hosea Chanchez, was reintroduced by BET. The show has been cancelled for two years now but could not have received a better "welcome back". The Game's season four opener had 7.7 million viewers tuned in! Congratulations to Mara Brock Akil and the entire cast for an amazing return!

"The Game" is a television drama revealing the lives of NFL stars. Returning with the same starring cast, Tia Mowry-Hardrict as Melanie Barnette-Davis, Pooch Hall as Derwin Davis, Coby Bell as Jason Pitts, Brittany Daniel as Kelly Pitts, Hosea Chanchez as Malik Wright, and Wendy Raquel Robinson as Tasha Mack, "The Game" has managed to make many changes. Here is a breakdown of the characters and their lives, as well as my thoughts and comments!
(: Enjoy.

Starting with the Pitts, Kelly and Jason have finalized their divorce, yet still cannot be friends. Jason suffers in his personal life, as well as in his career. Jason comes to us as a temporary sports reporter explaining that he will not return to the San Diego Sabers unless the respect he wishes for is recieved. While his ex wife Kelly is living "large". Kelly has won the settlement and is definitely living it up. She has a new car, hairstyle, and attitude. First appearing to the screen during one of Jason's segments, Kelly tells us of her new reality show which showcases what the life of a football stars ex-wife is all about. Personally, I am NOT feeling her character as of right now; she is way too dramatic and comes off extremely bitter. I'm not sure if she was written in to be this way or if her acting has gone away within the two year break, but something has got to change throughout the season! Another change brought to us by the Pitts is Brit Brat! Yes, Brit Brat is brand new and she as well annoys me. Brit Brat made an appearance for about five minutes but she came off as a rebellious teenager still upset over her parents divorce. As far as the Pitts go, I say Jason walks away with the Oscar. Coby Bell did an awesome job in staying true to the character; Jason remained the same. Mr. Pitts is still the rude, cheap asshole he has always been and I love it that way, thanks Coby!

As far as the flashy life of Malik Wright, it's become completely sinful and he has grown more selfish. Although I, myself wouldn't see it as selfish. I call that down right evil! Malik brings to us the new owner of the San Diego Sabers played by Micheal Beach, seen before as Miles in the 1997 film Soul Food. Beach's character is not too fond of Malik and in return Malik has no respect for him. In the scene that Beach and Malik share together, Malik is constantly criticizing Beach's work and lifestyle. The mediator for this argument is Megan Good playing as Beach's wife. Now the twist to all of this is the scene shown prior to the argument where Megan Good and Malik were making out in a bathroom whereas in future scenes the two are out and about professing their sins to the world! Yes, yes y'all Megan Good is portrayed as a bonafide hoe. Surprised? Not I. (; All I have to say about this story line is Malik better be careful! He is definitely risking a lot and from what I can see he is on very thin ice. Especially since Malik has pissed off his former(yes, former) assistant, Tee Tee who is now his own businessman. Tee Tee(Barry Floyd) now owns his own chicken wing truck of course, thanks to Malik, and business seems to be doing very well. And might I add, Tee Tee is looking good this season, lol. Although Tee Tee's life has changed for the better Malik still controls it and in this episode has managed to steal Allison, Tee Tee's girlfriend, away from him. )': You would think, with the dirt Malik has on his shoulder(Megan Good), he would treat Tee Tee much nicer! But you know what they say, what goes around comes around! Let's get him Tee Tee!

And now, for Mama Tasha or as she proclaims, 'Tasha Mizzack', LMAO. Oh how we've all missed us some Tasha Mack! Tasha left with a quick scene showing her and Rick Fox along with a swolen lip from her and Kelly's fight ending their friendship. Which by the way is still up in flames and it seems as if Kelly ain't scared of no Tasha Mack! (Sorry, I have to use broken English when talking about Tasha Mack; it's only respectful, lol.) As for Tasha's much anticipated love life with Rick Fox, it's over. Tasha has moved on to a much wilder lover, Donte, played by Terrance J from BET's 106th and Park. Tasha and Donte are currently hidden and Tasha has made it very clear that she would like to keep it this way! C'mon Tasha, haven't you learned that the whole "hiding ya man" thing is NOT your friend? We'll see how this relationship plays out. Will Tasha run this one into the ground? Probably so. Despite her drama, nobody can touch Tasha when it comes to her career. Now managing, Derwin(Pooch Hall), Tasha has managed to flip his ghetto, baby mama drama into a fairytale story and has Derwin on the front page of magazines, billboards, etc. But I would have to say, #ImHellaMad Tasha was up in there smokin a black! That's that #BayAreaSwag, LMAO!

Last but not least, we have the Davis'! Everyone awaited to see how their fairytale plays out only to see that shit ain't changed. Derwin, Melanie, AND Janay only live up to the drama they've left with. We first see Melanie and Derwin posing for Ebony magazine, expressing their glamourous life to the world. Janay(Gabrielle Dennis) then shows up to the photoshoot to drop off D.J., Derwin Junior, to the happy couple. Melanie and Janay seem to have built a friendly relationship yet still keep their distance from one another. However, Melanie still cannot except the fact that Derwin has a baby with another woman, and it all comes out when Tasha taunts Melanie about D.J. having traits aside from Derwin(Pooch Hall). Melanie, still being the weak willed person that she is, secretly gives D.J. a paternity test and finds out that D.J. is not Derwin's son. After breaking the devastating news to Derwin and explains that she had to, for Janay only wants what her and Derwin have, they argue. Until, Derwin comes around, confronts Janay, and accepts the fact that D.J. is not his son. As the episode comes to a close, Melanie receives a phone call from her friend who ran the paternity test, explaining that while running the test, she was tired and the results were wrong. D.J. is Derwin's son. WTF!? Drama, see? First of all, why the f-ck did Melanie swab D.J? She irritates me in how easily she is manipulated(Tasha). Although I have to say, if I was Melanie I would've had that paternity test taken care of the day D.J. was born! But since she's lived in the life for two years, WHAT WAS THE POINT? To top it all of, she broke the news to Derwin and now she must turn around and contradict herself; it will only make her seem extremely jealous! I swear, if they get a divorce. I'M DONE!

Overall the show was very good! Predictable, but good. There was definitely a lot to take in but I am very excited to see how it all turns out! Congratulations again to the entire cast and Mara Brock Akil for making history; the first show to ever make a comeback after being cancelled and to hold the record for the highest rated show in cable history! Absolutely electrifying!

Girl, It's A Photoshoot!

Just got back from my first photoshoot! (: I was so excited throughout the entire shoot as well as extremely cold, lol. The photographer, Rocio Rivera, happens to be one of my friends from high school. Now, Rocio and I are both very young and far from professional in our careers but, I must say she is amazing, influential, and very professional. Rocio made me feel extremely comfortable throughout the entire shoot and coached me every step of the way! Thanks so much Hun, appreciate it very much and I cannot wait to see the results!

Now the photos are not done, but here goes a sneak peak. She made me cry, lol! Pretty good, huh?

Congratulations Auburn!
Even though I was rooting for the Ducks, I knew they weren't ready for the championship. Not without him...

Topic of Discussion: Say Something!

This goes out to my ballas. macs aka the homies settin out to rap.
I'm directing this message towards men and women within the age range of eighteen to mid twenties, and ALWAYS all ethnicities! (:
What are y'all saying today?
Y'all are telling me that I'm ballin` out of control if I drop three bills (that's hundred dollar bills for the uncool), on a shirt and a pair of jeans at yet, I'm still living in the upstairs bedroom at my mama's house?
You mean to tell me that if I'm socially active but not sexually active with three different men at the same time I can get some props. I'm a mac. I'm a pimp. I can NOW brush my shoulders off?
Is that what y'all are saying today?
So let me get this straight...
If I can put together words that melodically move
and get a mass of people to groove.
God forbid it makes sense.
As long as I live up to this presence.
This image.
This facade.
I can be the next Drizzy?
The next Wiz?
The next Pac?
Well if that's what's been said, go ahead and stop.
That's all bullshit and I am now replying to that.

People,
If you're going to say something, say it with meaning.
Feel your words.
Don't make your words fit the wants of everyone else.
Give everyone else that song to sing when in need.
Let them have it! Tell them, "If you can't handle the heat, then get out of the kitchen!"
PLEASE, I beg of you, stop buying into the fame and go where the respect lies.
Loyalty is found there!
People can sense the sincerity of one's work by how he or she delivers.
Gimmicks. Images. Acts only last for a minute whereas, truth stands forever.
One cannot be a pimp forever. He or she has to find love one day...
One cannot be a balla forever. There are bills to pay, people to feed, responsibilities; money does run out.
Move on people, move forward.

This goes out to my peers, my friends, my loved ones.
FIND YOURSELF!
Haven't you learned that we, as an audience, are never happy?
I truly and honestly believe that the flyest appeal comes from within.
If you're going to say something, say it with meaning.
What difference will it make to the self conscious girl, how many hoes you slept with in a week?
What difference will it make to the teenage father, working four hour shifts at Pik and Save to support his little family, if you can buy four lambo's and a iced out chain?
Find your voice young people! Not his voice or her voice but, yours; and after you do that, let us hear it too!

Three Letter Word.

Sex, especially today, is definitely overrated!
Making love is where it's at, young buck! #GetThere .
And then you'll never want to share or profess what you have with the world!
Why must people you've never met before know about the whereabouts of your private parts?
If one is trying to reveal sexiness, privacy is the father of such.
Don't make a spectacle of oneself, just be with one person.
Not five. Not ten. Not five million. Just one!
Sex is overrated, make love.

P.S. Making love comes with a ring, certificate, and God!
